Ring sizing is one of those things you don’t think about - until you get it wrong. I’ve made enough almost - right guesses to know it’s worth figuring out. Whether you’re buying for yourself or someone else, here’s what actually helps.
Most Common Ring Sizes (and why they matter)
In Nigeria - and honestly, across most women’s sizing charts - ring sizes 6, 7, and 8 are the sweet spot. If you’re buying without measuring, these are usually your safest bets:
- Size 6 - Slender fingers, usually worn on the ring or middle finger.
- Size 7 - Most common overall. Fits the majority and works well for stacking.
- Size 8 - For slightly wider fingers or when you want a looser fit.
Pro tip? If you’re shopping for a thumb ring or stacking set, go slightly larger than your usual size. That tiny bit of space makes all the difference in comfort.

How to figure out your size (without printing out a sizing chart)
Here’s what’s actually worked for me and my friends:
- Use an old ring: One that fits comfortably. Take it to any jeweller (even at the mall) and ask them to size it. Takes two minutes.
- Paper strip method: Wrap a strip of paper around the finger, mark where it overlaps, then measure it against a ruler. Google a ring size chart with mm conversions.
- Size up for warm weather: Fingers swell. If you’re buying in the heat, go half a size up from what feels snug.
If it’s a gift…
When in doubt, go for size 7. It’s the most universal and safest middle ground. And if it doesn’t fit? CurioClass rings are adjustable or easy to exchange.
My personal favourite for gifting? The Valencia Ring. It’s sleek, wearable, and surprisingly forgiving size-wise.
Ring shopping shouldn’t be complicated. A little knowledge (and maybe a screenshot of this page) goes a long way. And if all else fails? Choose the one you love-because getting it resized is way easier than finding the perfect piece twice.
